The parent company of the Columbus Dispatch has spent $735.4 million buying small and mid-sized newspapers since late 2013 and still is hungry for more.

New Media Investment Group Inc. bought the Dispatch for $47 million in 2015. It operates newspapers under the GateHouse Media umbrella and has made 18 acquisitions, including eight last year for $123.2 million, the New York-based company said Tuesday in reporting its year-end earnings.
